Raising Refounders Idaho

Idaho became a state on July 3, 1890 and was the 43rd state to do so.  The capital city is Boise, which is located in the western part of the state, below the Sawtooth Mountains.  With a population of just under 1.4 million people living in an area of about 82,700 square miles, Idaho is the 39th most populous state in the Union.

Idaho is different from many of its neighbors in several ways - first it is not rectangular shaped like Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, and Washington and second it's name is made up!  It doesn't come from any one particular Native American phrase or word!

Idaho is famous for its HUGE potato crop, in fact it produced almost 25% of all potatoes in the United States.  Tourism is another attraction in Idaho.  The Rocky Mountains take on their own unique flavor in this neck of the woods - and skiing, hiking, fly fishing and other outdoor activates are very popular.
